Staying Cool in the Texas Heat at Devil's Water Hole.
Well, if you know anything about the heat here in Texas, it can be brutal. Most of Texas experiences, roughly, a 4-6 month long heatwave that can see temps well into the 100s, compounded by the overwhelming humidity, and that can reach as high as 90%. But, there are ways to stay cool during these hot summer months, and Inks Lake State Park has one of the many gems you'll find here in the Lone Star State, Devil's Water Hole.

Located about 50 miles from Austin, in Burnet, Tx, this park opens from 8am-10pm. Reservations are required by either reserving passes online or from the customer service number provided on the Texas State Park website.
Working in the Texas heat is one thing, but playing in it, well that's a whole other thing.
From the local family gatherings, to the out-of-towners enjoying a quick weekend get-away, Inks Lake as got a lot of what you need covered.
Boats, jet skis, paddle boards, kayaks, fishing, hiking, camping, bird watching or just your typical cannonball off the 20ft ledge, or a daredevil jump off of "chicken" rock can just about cure any adventure fever you have. But, don't let all that thrill seeking keep you from a relaxing Saturday. Just throw yourself up a hammock, or hook up the travel trailer and lounge in a folding chair under an awning, or take in the night's sky, Inks Lake has gotcha covered.
Devil's Water Hole
Located within Inks Lake, Devil's Water Hole is at the east side of the lake, and following the ridge line are the cliffs. Towering around 10-15ft or so you'll find the cliff the majority of us cannonball off of; and if you dare, you can climb up another 10-12ft to "chicken" rock (which is aptly named) to challenge your nerve, or skill. PLEASE keep in mind when attempting these jumps that it is at your own risk, as there are no lifeguards. Algae at the base of the rocks can get pretty slippery as well, so watch your step. Climb with caution.
